 Thanksgiving - food for thought

This year, I actually cooked a turkey that was completely thawed. Somebody forgot to pack the heart & liver inside the bird, so I didn’t have that customary bag of ice in the middle keeping everything frozen. I even cooked it the day before Thanksgiving which turned out to be a wonderful thing indeed! It was cooked, off the bone, and put away (with the broth) before I even started on my pies! Cooking the turkey the day before made everything so much better for me. I didn’t have to worry about all the bird stuff that still needs to be taken care of after you’re finished eating (while everyone else is napping) and the turkey was just as juicy as it was when I took it off the bone. This is definitely my new Thanksgiving tradition!
