Susan is a web designer & developer. She began working with computers in the early 1980s working on word processors and remembers her first experience on a Commodore 64. It could save text to be retrieved later - no retyping! How cool was that!? Her skills rapidly expanded as her thirst for knowledge about computers, how they worked and what their potential was. For years, Susan would take computers apart, fix them and put them back together, fixed friends’ computers and played with operating systems to see what the differences were and what the potential problems with each were.

With the advent of the World Wide Web, Susan’s fascination with technology was redirected a little. Learning HTML in the 90’s, she learned as much as she could about how websites worked, what made them work better and continually followed the trends in web technology, taking courses and developing the skills to become a web designer.

In 1999, Susan went from her full-time job as a legal office manager at Conservation Law Foundation to a Virtual Assistant and Web Designer, designing her first professional website, www.eliteofficesupport.com. At the time, she was one of only a handful of professional virtual assistants out there. Having clients on many areas of the globe was intriguing and Susan was constantly amazed at how quickly one can connect with someone 6,000 miles away as if they were sitting next to you.

As the World Wide Web has grown and changed, so has Susan’s business. She still does some work as a virtual assistant, but primarily offers web design and development, working mostly with individuals and small businesses to create a professional web presence for them.

Susan’s knowledge and skills have only continued to grow over the last 9 years. She has worked to stay on top of the most recent technologies to better serve her clients.

As web users have trended toward wanting to work on their own websites more and more, Susan has studied how to best implement content management systems for her clients. She has found that small businesses and non-profits in particular are thrilled to have the ability to edit their own sites while restricting the design to ensure a well-intentioned employee doesn’t unintentionally mess it up.

Susan continues to work on other ventures and is a volunteer for the Girl Scouts of America as well as AdoptAUSSoldier.org. She is also the founder of Elite Office Support, a worldwide networking and business listing organization for professional virtual office assistants.
